I like the second one better. The first one has no real spot of focus .... needs a bird or a boat. The second one looks like islands and reefs and pulls at the imagination ... gives me an urge to explore. Of course both are better than I could do. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I love the finished product....perhaps like most people we are our own worse critics

I like them both and superbj has a very good point about focus. However your response stating what you wanted of the picture makes it clear why you liked the first better. The first would better gives that feel of space for idly staring out of a window as you think of other things. It opens unlimited space, the second gives a view but limits space. May you get what you are after with the next one. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

When I looked again just after hitting post I also realized the first picture gives a much greater sense of action or motion than the finished one. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

Just paint over what you have... that's what I always do... and let a little bit of the color you already have shine through. Thoughts from the Garden...

GB beat me to it... I was going to say just paint it white (or black) and start again! I still think both versions are gorgeous tho!

I tend to favour the top image. Maybe add some subtle birds or a boat?

Funny that, eh? Both are fabulous, but I much prefer the first one too......

I'll take that one you don't like and give you my bad version of Niagara Falls. [image] Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Am quoting some famous artist here, The hardest parts of creating art is, to start, and to know when to quit. My mom was a painter, as well as a creator of sculpture, and a flower gardener, among her many talents. I have several peices of her art, tho some she did I WISH I had. My dad tried too, I have one of his efforts, a paint by number picture, and well, I hang it because HE went to the trouble to try it ! That makes it very important to ME ! My own amounts to line drawings of my cats, and photagraphy, and music. Not much but again, I try ! And that is what counts ! Keep trying !!

maybe because the second one is too linear? and the other has more motion? but it's all in the eye of the beholder, eh? You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I absolutely LOVE the second way way more than the first one!!!! I would hang that anywhere in my house!
